PALESTINIAN AND ISRAELI GIRLS
UNITE FOR TRANSFORMATIVE
LEADERSHIP RETREAT
In May 2024, PeacePlayers ME’s 昀椀rst overnight retreat
since October 7 brought together 16 young women leaders
from West and East Jerusalem. For Palestinians and Israelis
to lodge together during this fraught time is no small feat,
a testament to the trust and the close bonds that have
developed over the years. The retreat was packed with
peacebuilding sessions that focused on teamwork, trust,
and leadership. In one memorable session, the young
women showcased what makes a great leader through
debates, plays, songs, and dances, showing off their
creativity and understanding of diplomacy and democracy.
The girls also enjoyed a scavenger hunt, a nature hike,
and communal dinners, making the most of their time
together. As the weekend came to a close, they took home
not just great memories but also stronger bonds and new
leadership skills that will serve them both on and off the
court.
