put our minds to, as basketball has been a
predominantly male sport.
Basketball also promotes social cohesion among
young children in my community. It keeps
them busy and out of trouble, especially after
school. What I like about basketball is that it
teaches us how to communicate, how to trust,
as well as teamwork from a young age, helping
to shape us for our future. The school that I will
be attending next year does not offer basketball
as a sport, which makes me very sad, but I plan
to join another team that is involved in the
PeacePlayers program.
My secret to success is, be yourself, work hard,
stay focused and have fun. You may win some
games and you may lose some games, but the
most important thing is that you never give up.
My coach, Sam, pushed me to be the best that I
can be, guided me and never gave up on me. I am
grateful to have had her in my corner.
I am thankful to be a part of the PeacePlayers
program and for the opportunity to be a part of
an awesome family.
